If I rember correctly in one of the episodes shenji was sucked into an angle and his evangelion shuts down. After his filtration stops and the LCL gets dirty he says that smells like blood. In my view the blood that Rei is setting in fits very well... P.S. Watch the ending and let me know if I am right... Uh failed xD I know this scene, it's not a spoiler for me =P anyway it's not this scene. You can see that it's Rei and not Shinji i chose for my wallpaper. And anyway, this is not the inside of the Evangelion but of Nerv.
